Just underwhelming to me overall, not something tge would inspire me to read more Deveraux, but this was her first book and I did enjoy one frew her later works, A Knight in Shining Armor, so I will probably try her again at some point. It is probably a bad idea to not see your betrothed for the three weeks before you get married, especially if you only knew her for two days before asking her hand in marriage. Soon they get married, but the shadow of their insecurities plague their lyob and they are tested through difficult times.
Deveraux’s stories long ago and remember enjoying them. Three Weeks To Wed. The eEdition of this book is in tact with all of it’s old Skool, un-politically correct charms.

Not sure how, though hide spoiler ] and found there were many great things about this book, and my overall impression was really positive, though I mainly complained here.
I am glad I took the leap and look forward to reading mude next book in the Montgomery series. There is another book I have previously read whose lead male character is known as Lyon and whose lead female character is supposedly a tribe’s lioness – Julie Garwood’s “Lion Lady” which added to my curiosity on how this story would develop. It obviously must get better due to the good reviews I saw on here, but I could not tough it out!
Deveraux manages to evoke a strong and convincing atmosphere for each of her books, but her dialogue and characters are as familiar as a modern-day soap opera’s.

Possible pet peeves view spoiler [ This was a bodice ripper The first two times the sex is basically rape She’s 17 and he’s older I DO NOT mind this in historicals The hero slaps the heroine after he thinks she cheated on him and her lips are bloodied The heroine doubts the hero when a villain convinces her she’s pregnant and leaves him whiles she’s pregnant too Both have trust issues We later come to know Ranulf knows it was Lyonene all along in the tent- but it’s hinted he might have cheated if it wasn’t her??

I like books set in the medieval times, I love to see how two strangers marry then have to get to know and trust each other. Third, the only thing I didn’t like about this book was their lack of trust for each other but I think it was sensible because they were both enchanting, beautiful and powerful characters. There’s nothing like your first romance. I had to reread the novel in order to start the series anew and to be able to express my opinion properly.
There were many instances where the point-of-view switched between the characters at such a dizzying rate that I became somewhat lost. I’m not sure how to describe the way the dialogue is written in this medieval historical romance because it is historically accurate so there is an odd effect of the old way of expressions like the word, ‘Mayhaps’. Misunderstandings abound, heroine is feisty, hero is a rogue who must be tamed, heroine is kidnapped and must be rescued by the hero, heroine is poor, hero is rich, etc.
